平成５年の初夏、かってササユリが群生していた伊古部町の太平洋岸の山中で１株のササユリを見つけ、色々調査・研究しそのササユリから種を取って７年、大切に育てた幾つかの球根を海岸近くの山に植え、草刈・消毒などをこまめにこなし平成１５年ごろには多くの花の咲く「ささゆりの里」になりました。
毎年６月１０日前後の土曜日と日曜日にササユリ祭があり, 観賞者にお茶のサービスがあり、夏に咲く草花の苗や鉢植えのささゆりも販売します。
